While often not life-threatening, ant bites can be extremely painful depending on the species of ant. In case of a severe allergic reaction, ant bites can even cause breathing difficulties, dizziness or confusion. Fortunately, there are many different natural remedies that can help relieve painful ant bites almost instantly.

Lemon juice contains citric acid, which can numb the itchiness associated with ant bites. Moreover, lemon juice has antibacterial properties that can help reduce the risk of infection.
To relieve ant bites fast, squeeze fresh lemon juice into a bowl and dab the juice onto the bite. Never apply fresh lemon juice to scratched or open ant bites to avoid stinging.
Alternatively, you can use baking soda to achieve the same effect. Baking soda’s alkaline compounds help break down dirt and grease, as well as neutralize the skin’s pH balance and help it fight infection. To relieve an ant bite using baking soda, mix just enough baking soda and water to form a paste and apply that onto the bite.
Like lemon juice, ACV’s acidic nature can also take the stinging sensation out of an ant bite. Studies indicate that ACV has antibacterial properties, which can help protect your ant bite from possible infection.
To relieve an ant bite using ACV, pour a few teaspoons of ACV into a bowl. Dilute the ACV with a little water, then dab it onto your bite.
Honey can help reduce redness and inflammation associated with ant bites and can also help prevent infection.
To treat ant bites with honey, apply a small amount to the affected area, cover it with a bandage and leave it for up to an hour. Put your honey away carefully after use to avoid attracting more ants and bugs.
Cooling cucumber slices can help relieve itchy ant bites. When applied cold, they can also minimize swelling. To relieve ant bites with cucumber, place cucumber slices where there is redness and swelling.
Salt possesses antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a great natural remedy for insect bites in general. It’s a great alternative for baking soda if the latter isn’t available.
To relieve ant bites with salt, put a small amount of salt in a bowl. Add just enough warm water to form a paste. Apply this paste directly to the affected area.
Ice cubes help soothe pain and inflammation associated with ant bites. They also help minimize swelling. To relieve an ant bite with ice cubes, wrap the cubes in a clean towel. Press it against the bite for as long as you can tolerate or until the cubes melt.
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, coconut oil can relieve swelling and itchiness associated with ant bites. When coconut oil is applied to bites, it also forms a thin layer that protects the bite from infection.
For immediate relief from ant bites, massage coconut oil onto the affected area. (Related: Natural healing: Survival uses for coconut oil.)
Olive oil contains a compound called oleocanthal, which helps reduce inflammation associated with ant bites. When applied to the bite, olive oil also forms a protective layer on the skin to keep contaminants out. For fast-acting relief from ant bites, massage olive oil onto the affected area.
Try any of the home remedies listed above the next time you’re bitten by an ant. However, you should seek emergency medical services immediately if you experience potentially serious adverse effects, such as breathing difficulties, dizziness and confusion.
